The NWDB Youth Services program is looking for Businesses to participate in the Work Experience Program.
What the Work Experience provides to youth:
Work experience is in most cases a paid* internship that provides direct and promising opportunities for these youth to enhance their skills and suitability as future employees. Work experiences should teach good work habits and basic work skills for those who have never worked or who have not worked for a significant amount of time; provide the youth an opportunity to explore career choices in selected industries that match the youth’s career interests whenever possible; and provide the youth the opportunity to develop basic occupational-related skills. Work experiences should also provide exposure to various aspects of an industry and include progressively more complex tasks.
What Work Experience provides to Businesses:
- The opportunity to pass on their knowledge and experience to the next generation of worker.
- Identification of potential future employees.
- An extra set of hands around the worksite.
- An opportunity to give back to the community.
If you or your business is interested in participating in the Work Experience program, please contact the Youth Services Manager for more information.
*The Youth Participating in Work Experience are covered under the insurance and are paid by the NWDB or Authorized service provider.
